Key Allegro Bridge Construction Information

Update - July 1 --The City of Rockport has been working closely with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) since last week to develop an improved traffic control and safety plan for the Key Allegro Bridge construction project. Originally, the contractor expected a need to use a section of Fulton Beach Road for equipment and materials; however, they have identified a different staging area, which means that the roadblocks will be removed.
A third traffic signal will be deployed to allow southbound traffic on Fulton Beach Road to continue south onto Broadway or to turn left onto Bay Shore Drive and the bridge. Northbound traffic on Broadway will also be able to continue north on Fulton Beach Road or to turn right onto Bay Shore Drive. The third signal will add approximately 40 seconds to the overall cycle between the three traffic signals, but it will eliminate the detours through residential areas and the several minutes the detours take.
Even with the reopening of Fulton Beach Road, the southern Lakeview entrance into Harbor Oaks will remain closed for safety reasons. The barricades and concrete barriers will remain.
TxDOT and the contractor worked diligently to get the traffic control plan in place in time for the expected heavy traffic for the 4th of July weekend.

7/4/2021 - For safety and environmental reasons, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has installed water barriers at the construction site for the Key Allegro Bridge.  As a result, there will be no egress or ingress from Little Bay in the area under the construction, as well as limited access to Blevins Channel, for any water vessels.  The barriers will remain in place until the end of construction, which is expected to be complete in August 2022.
